The HSE advise employers to carry out a First Aid needs assessment to help decide how many First Aiders are required. There are no standard rules on exact numbers as employers will need to take into account all the relevant circumstances of their workplace.
We provide a free service which allows you to calculate how many First Aiders you require in your workplace and the type of course that would be suitable. The online assessment only takes a few minutes, and you will be emailed a bespoke calculation of your First Aid requirements. Calculate your First Aid requirements with the link below:

We train in Devon, Dorset and Somerset. We can deliver a course at your workplace or venue. If you’d like to come to us, we can host you at a rented space.
We offer training to workplaces, groups and clubs. If you need First Aid training for work, hobby or your own knowledge, please get in touch. We have trained hairdressers, warehouse and factory operatives, dentists, accountants, hotel staff and many others!

There is no mandatory list for the contents of a First Aid kit from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). The HSE require employers to conduct a needs assessment and stock the First Aid kit(s) to suit the circumstances of the workplace.
First Aid kits should be made easily accessible. The contents of First Aid kits should be checked frequently and restocked soon after use.
The HSE has published further guidance on First Aid equipment which gives advice on the contents of a First Aid kit. (www.hse.gov.uk) This is a good starting point in putting together your First Aid kit.
You can check The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 on the government website. Here is the link: www.hse.gov.uk
The guidance sets out what you need to do to manage the provision of First Aid including First Aid kit, equipment and rooms.
The First Aid regulations can be found on the government website. Here is the link:
