How do I choose a First Aid trainer?If you are an employer, you have the responsibility select the most suitable First Aid training for your requirements. The Health and Safety Executive’s guidance advises on the levels of due diligence that you may be required to follow. When selecting a training provider you should check: the qualifications expected of trainers and assessors monitoring and quality assurance systems teaching and standards of First Aid practice syllabus content certification If you choose a regulated course with Wyatt First Aid you are assured that our awarding organisation Qualsafe, the course and the trainer have all met the standard to deliver training to you.

How long are First Aid at Work qualifications valid?Both Emergency First Aid at Work and First Aid at Work qualifications are valid for 3 years.

How do I requalify in First Aid at Work?To requalify learners can either attend a 2 day requalification course before expiry of the qualification or attend a full 3 day course at a slower pace.

How do I requalify in Emergency First Aid at Work?To requalify learners simply need to attend another course.

What is an open course?An open course is where we host at a venue so individuals and small groups can book on to train alongside each other. It works well if you are self employed, have a small team, no space or quiet area to train, or prefer a training course away from work.

Where can I train with you?We train in Devon, Dorset and Somerset. We can deliver a course at your workplace or venue. If you’d like to come to us, we can host you at a rented space.

Who do Wyatt First Aid train?We offer training to workplaces, groups and clubs. If you need First Aid training for work, hobby or your own knowledge, please get in touch. We have trained hairdressers, warehouse and factory operatives, dentists, accountants, hotel staff and many others!

How many learners can train together per course?We can train up to 12 learners together if there is the space to do so. If you require up to 16 learners trained in a group, 2 trainers will deliver the course together.

How do I book First Aid training?We have an easy 4-step booking process: Complete an Enquiry form Quotation for training given Confirmation of booking sent to you Payment within 14 days of invoice date

How do I pay for First Aid training?Please pay by bank transfer using the details provided on your invoice. If you need to use an alternative payment method, please contact us. Payment is requested at course confirmation and is due within 14 days of invoice.

Do you offer group discounts?We offer group discounts for multiple learners training together. Please contact us for a quotation.

What should I wear on a First Aid training course?We suggest you wear something comfortable and easy to move in. Please be aware that some skills are practised on the floor. Bring layers of clothing so you are warm / cool enough.

What refreshments are provided?If we come to your workplace or venue, we ask you to provide drinks and the learners to bring their own lunch. We will bring some snacks for the tea breaks. Let us know what your favorites are!

How will I receive my training certificate?Learners receive their certificates by email. Certificates are in PDF format ready for you to save or print. Certificates are sent directly from our awarding organization Qualsafe. If you have not received your certificate, please look in your ‘spam’ or ‘junk’ folder after checking your inbox. If you have any problems, please contact us.

How will I be notified my certificate is expiring?We offer a certificate expiry reminder service via email, so you can plan your training and keep current.

Who Are Qualsafe?Qualsafe is the leading Awarding Organisation for First Aid qualifications in the UK. Qualsafe is recognised and regulated by Ofqual, Qualification Wales, as well as the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA). Qualsafe is required to comply with the requirements of their regulators. Approved Centres also have a responsibility to meet the regulatory compliance requirements. Wyatt First Aid is a Qualsafe registered centre and approved to provide Qualsafe qualifications.

What is a regulated First Aid course?Regulated First Aid qualifications are listed on the National Qualification Framework for their respective country and regulated by Ofqual, Qualifications Wales, SQA, or CCEA. Regulated qualifications have robust Quality Assurance processes in design, delivery and award of the qualification. Each time you train with Wyatt First Aid you are assured that the awarding organisation, the course, and the trainer have all met the standard to deliver training to you.

What are the entry requirements for regulated courses?Learners must be at least 14 years old and be able to perform practical tasks at floor level. There are no other formal course entry requirements but our awarding organisation, Qualsafe strongly recommend that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in English literacy and numeracy or equivalent.

How will I be assessed on my First Aid course?First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work courses require you are assessed for your First Aid practical skills and knowledge. The practical assessments involve you practising the skill until you are able to demonstrate the skill correctly. The theory assessments are in Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format. Shorter courses may include practical assessments and MCQ. Please ask when booking. If you feel you may require support with the assessments, please get in touch with us before the course starts. By being aware of your needs ahead of the course, we can discuss with you confidentially how we may assist you.

What should I include in my workplace First Aid kit?There is no mandatory list for the contents of a First Aid kit from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). The HSE require employers to conduct a needs assessment and stock the First Aid kit(s) to suit the circumstances of the workplace. First Aid kits should be made easily accessible. The contents of First Aid kits should be checked frequently and restocked soon after use. The HSE has published further guidance on First Aid equipment which gives advice on the contents of a First Aid kit. (www.hse.gov.uk) This is a good starting point in putting together your First Aid kit.

What regulations are there for First Aid at Work in the UK?You can check The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 on the government website.
